HITRUST CSF Practitioners who want to maintain their HITRUST Certified CSF Practitioner (CCSFP) designation are required to attend an annual Certified CSF Practitioner Refresher Course. This self-paced eLearning course updates participants on the latest updates to the HITRUST CSF and any changes to the HITRUST CSF assurance program.

The content for the 1st Annual and 2nd Annual Refresher course is the same as described in the Topics section below.  Participants should register for the appropriate annual session based on their individual certification training cycle.

• The HITRUST CSF (Authoritative sources, management of the framework, relation to other standards, assessment types, reporting types)
• Changes, new regulations, and updates to the HITRUST CSF framework in the past year (version updates)
• Changes, new features, and updates to the MyCSF online tool
• Review of any changes to the HITRUST CSF Assurance Program
• Review of performing risk assessments, including the Assessor’s functions
• Review of support and other items as applicable

Intended Audience

The Annual Refresher Course is required for HITRUST Certified CSF Practitioners to retain their certification and for those who want to provide HITRUST and HITRUST CSF-related services.

Prerequisites

Individuals who are a certified, current holder of the HITRUST CCSFP Certification are eligible to take the annual refresher course.  HITRUST Academy verifies participant eligibility for all refresher course registrations.  If it is determined that an individual is not eligible for a refresher course, s/he will be notified that they have been removed from the course and/or denied registration.  Practitioners should refer to the Payment and Change Policies paragraph below for additional information prior to registering for a refresher class if unsure about eligibility to attend.

Certification

HITRUST Certified CSF Practitioners are required to take annual refresher training for the consecutive two years following the original certification date to keep their certification current.  Refresher training is due no later than the end of the month that corresponds with the Practitioner’s last certification anniversary date.  For example, if certified on January 1, 2017, the Practitioner would need to attend annual refresher training by January 30, 2018 to keep their certification current.  Failure to attend refresher training within the allowed timeframe will result in loss of the certification and will require attendance at the HITRUST Academy’s full onsite training course to recertify.

HITRUST Certified CSF Practitioners are also required to take the Certified CSF Practitioner Course every three years from the initial certification date to keep the certification current.

Continuing Professional Education Credit

HITRUST Practitioners who complete the HITRUST Certified CSF Practitioner Refresher Course are eligible for 2 hours to be applied toward continuing professional education (CPE) credit. Participants will be provided a certificate of completion for the refresher training course which reflects the CPE hours for documentation purposes.
